No taxes on overtime or tips does sound nice but just like all bills in Washington, there's much more than meets the eye. Laws passed that seem too good to be true, often are used as a Trojan Horse to hide controversial pieces of legislation.

In President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill, there is a hidden provision that bans states from making any laws to regulate AI for the next 10 years. Many members of congress expressed regret after voting

on the bill stating that they had no knowledge of the provision (even though that's their job.....).

Where congress collaborates (or at least tries to) on passing legislation

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green expressed regret about the bill on X saying "I am adamantly OPPOSED to this and it is a violation of state rights and I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there.”

Being a creator, songwriter, and producer, AI is a scary thing, as it can decimate the role of the creator. In music production, every producer cuts their teeth by making demos before working on masters. Services like SUNO allow songwriters to pay $10 a month for AI demos within minutes, versus $200-$500 for a single demo. AI videos are all over social media to the point where it is hard to see authenticity anymore.

While us as creatives want to only focus on creating, it is important for us to be involved in the laws set by our country, as they can affect all of our livelihoods as creatives. Call your representative and let them know your thoughts on this bill. This is why voting matters.

Let's wait and see how the bill changes in the Senate, hopefully Senators Blackburn and Hagerty can work across the aisle with Senators Schiff and Padilla, who represent constituents in music, film, and TV.
